Music Review: Looking at Yellow Card's Chick Song Only One Twenty Years Later | Emo Music Is Fun Music

In this episode of Use Your Words, we take a look at Yellow Card's song Only One twenty years after it was released. We learn a few things during this song: Paul listened to way more emo than he cares to admit during his early adult hood, Pug Mugs are the best mugs (YouTube version only), and sometimes musicians make mistakes when they make music videos that have nothing to do with the song. While we listen and look at this song, we also look at how this song exemplifies a typical music video/song in the early 2000's. We also discuss Dave Matthews Band's influence on early 2000's music and how it even impacted jazz bands during this time frame. Join us and listen to determine if this song will appear on your own personal playlist.

Transcript

This week on news rewards podcast. We're gonna talk about a song that Aaron was very young when it came out. I think you would have been, wait, you were born 95. You have been eight when the song came out. It was, I was an old little boy. I would have been 20. Yep. Mhm. Exactly. So this week we're talking about the song my pick this week this month uh only one by yellow card, yellow card, not Ocean Avenue.

As I kept saying last time, Ocean Avenue is another song that they've done as well as the name of this album that it was on. So they did a song called Ocean Avenue and they did the album named Ocean Avenue. And this song, only one was on the album, Ocean Avenue. Yes. All right. Uh It was released in 2003 as the second single from their album Ocean Avenue. And it's classified technically as a power ballad. It features acoustic guitar, violin and cello, such romantic punk pop punk progressions in it.

They did call it the their chick song of the album. So funny, which I just said I was like of course, this would be the one we'd pick. I pick. And Aaron would end up pick because I gave Aaron two choices. And was this one or Ocean Avenue, was it? Yeah. Ok. And we ended up going with this.

So, the reason we're doing this is because they are doing 1/20 anniversary tour to celebrate Ocean Avenue's 20th anniversary. No, I'm not. I think we talked about this. Yeah. Yeah. No. No. That, the time for going has already passed.

Oh, it's done already like around this area. Oh, man, we've traveled to Texas to see the classic crime. We can travel for this one. So we, yep, this song was there. So again, it came out in 2003, July of 2003, 20 years ago. Yeah. That just, which explains her to her.

Just man makes me feel old. Ok. Of, yeah. So even though they called it their chick song, it was a commercial success for Yellow Card. It reached number 15 on the Billboard modern rock track chart and number 25 on Billboard's mainstream rock track chart. It's still regarded. This song is still regarded as one of Yellow Cards most popular and well known songs really. And it has been covered by several artists over the years. Really? I guess, you know, I've never heard this song. You never heard the song until now, huh?

Well, until technically whenever I saw that Emo is in that dead video, but I didn't know that was this song. Ok. So, in a sense I've been reintroduced to it, but this is also the first time I'm like, oh, ok. Well, actually this is the first time I've heard the whole song because they didn't do the whole song. Obviously in the, in the EMO is not dead. Yeah. No, they did not.

So, so this is the first time I've technically hurt it. Ok. Under my knowledge, at least. All right. Yeah. And so if you look on youtube for covers of uh only one by there are a lot of them, one of the more entertaining ones, it looks like I haven't heard this one but it doesn't look like it's in English but, or at least the, the members are not from America and because the channel text isn't in our language, but the name of the group is called Mayonnaise. Mayonnaise. Yeah. Yeah, that's a good, like, I guess those weird names out there, I guess. So. I was like, yep. But if you look online there are a lot, a lot, a lot of covers of covers. So you could uh get very acoustic.

Y very like this one here is violin, violin, cello guitar quartet that covers be cool. That covers it and it, like the guitarist looks like it's an old man. Nice, nice. So, yeah, you got a bunch of different covers that you can find. So if you're like, well, I don't like how pop punky.

The original one is you could definitely find, oh, I'm sure Metal Lee type ones. Just what I'm looking for because, you know, you, when you look through youtube and you sometimes make judgments based on who you see. Right. If you see a guy with gauges and dreads and sleeves and full chest, uh, tattoos with a guitar, what sort of sound do you think you're gonna get, um, uh, metal metal? probably. Let's see how close you are. And also there's a lot of smoke. You didn't say what kind of guitar? No, I didn't. I just had guitar head up an acoustic or you would have said what wouldn't have been me?

I don't know if it's just an acoustic, it's just an acoustic rendition. Yeah. But I heard other stuff that was going on in there that was more than just the acoustic and I was like, oh, well, yeah, but I only showed him. So, yeah, what's funny is like, there's this video here of this guy. He's like first time hearing Yellow Card.

Only one I'm like, he's doing a React video. It's only two years old. That video. The React video. I'm like, wow, there are people still discovering old music, this wonderful band called Yellow Card. So you said that you hadn't really listened to it all the way through either until now, right? Yeah. Ok. Yeah. Uh What do you think of it then?

Let, let's hear your, your your review of everything here. Well, let, let's start with lyrics. How is it lyrically? Yeah. I mean, it's, you know, oh, after seeing the music video I really thrown off. You're throwing off. Yeah. Already thrown off. I don't know what the whole music video is about.

Like, I don't get how it fits in with the, the lyrics in this. Like, oh, I don't know, like, as far as lyrics wise I was like, it's just some guy losing his only one this girl or I guess today, whoever his only one was. Yeah. Um, was there anything in particular about the lyrics that stuck out to you that stuck out? Yeah, let me ask that. Um, he stuck out in what way? However they stick out to you. You know how this goes, sir? Do I, if I do this is not the first time we've done this?

I know, but I forget somehow every time, I mean, it, it's sounds like a very, it seems like a sad song. Ok, about screaming my lungs out to try and get to, you, try to get to you. You are my only one and that's like one thing like with, uh, and I think I've just started to try and pay attention to this more. So ever since I started to actually kind of pay attention to NF lyrics where it's, he might have like sections of a sentence kind of separated, but they go together sort of thing as far as like how he's, how he says it. So when I was looking at the chorus and at least like for watching the lyric, how it displayed the, the lyrics on the Apple music. Um I was seeing like where they put commas and stuff like that and oh, so grammar is important. Yeah, it can be, hey, you know what if, if, if, if one thing that legacy I leave with you, sir is that, is that you start listening to the lyrics and analyzing the lyrics?

I will be a happy person. Well, I was thinking in the course because all right, so here I go screw my lungs out and try to get to you. You're my only one I let go. So I was like, is he saying that he let like and here it's got it in like I let go and the next line underneath you are my only one. But so how I was reading like I was reading it as like one thing I was like, you are my only one I let go sort of thing. I was like, what?

I don't know but, but there's no one that gets me like you do. You are my only one. My only one. Um hm. I don't know. It just, it seems like just a lot of typical songs I made mistakes. Let you down. Yeah, it continues on.

Going on and yeah, over and over and so nothing I guess, I mean, nothing just like is like, wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Uh, power, um, dishonesty. Oh, he left a note? Yeah. Nothing really? Ok. Let's just some sad, lonely boy, some sad, sad, lonely boy. Yeah. Losing his, his only one. How many times did you listen to this song, sir? How many times? Yeah, probably 15 to 20.

That's impressive for you. Let me just put on repeat. Still. That's impressive for you.

I enjoyed the song like as far as instrument, I mean, not that I didn't, I mean, again, yeah, lyrically it's nothing crazy. Mhm Song is fun. I like the melody. OK. It would definitely be a fun song to play in the drums. Every song is fun to play for with you on the drums.

That's no, you have some worship music. Just kidding. There is some very fun worship music to play in drums. It's just the contemporary Christian, whatever churchy stuff. This is my boyfriend music. Yeah. Those ones. All right. Um All right. Cool. I, I just want, I just didn't know if there was anything that stuck out at you lyrically from it. Like you said, it's kind of simplistic.

It, it's written from the, the, the point of view of a guy who's basically uh for lack of better terminology has and, and he explained this in an interview he gave as well. He broke up with his girlfriend because essentially he's like, I'm not at the point where I can be good for you but I still love you but I know it's better for you. So, I'm breaking up with you to give you up. Yeah. So, wow. I guess he's doing better than I am. So that's fine. Um, so if you listen to the, his interviews with it as they're talking about it, it's, it's just really entertaining to listen to it.

Um, it, when, in one of his interviews, he, so he said that the, the song was based on one of his previous relationships, like I said, and I'm gonna quote him now. It was a weird breakup. It was one of those where I felt like I had to do it, even though she didn't do anything wrong. I just needed some space to figure life out for a while on my own. And I think that's what this song says. Yeah, they, the band called the song, the chick song on the album as is more an apology than anything. Now. Something I, I noticed that was slightly, uh, I don't know if you noticed or not.

That's up to you. If you notice the, this is in our case where the music video and the song were slightly different links again. Oh, I didn't even pay attention to that. I'm guessing the music video is longer. No, it's shorter. No, it's not. Yes, it is. The song is four minutes, 17 seconds. What's the music video? Yeah. You know, where, why it's so long because of the violin solo during the bridge. That's what? See, ok. I did, we watching the video.

I was like, wait a minute, he went into that kind of quick. Yeah, they cut a lot of that violin solo off which, as I'm listening back to, I'm like, Man, Dave Matthews really influenced a lot of the music of the early two thousands. Dave Matthews band. Matthews band. Yeah, because they really popular, made popular the idea of having like a, a, a violinist as part of your band. Really? Oh, yeah, dude. Like, even so in high school in my, uh, yeah, they had a great violinist.

Oh, no, I'm not saying that they didn't have, uh, he made that a popular thing. Yeah. So, like, oh, ok. Dating myself some, uh, my sophomore junior and senior year of high school in my, in jazz band.

We had a violinist in our jazz band because the Dave Matthews, yes. And my, my conductor said specifically Dave Matthews has a violinist. We're gonna have a violist. Wow, that's kind of cool. And so we had a violinist in our band in our jazz band.

I'll give it to him. That's cool. All right. And that made it very interesting because jazz songs don't have violin parts. No. So she had to make up her own violin parts through everything. That's skill. Boom. Oh, she was talent.

She was a very talented violinist. Her name was Bethany. Bethany. I don't remember her last name at the time, but her name was Bethany. Very, very skilled and talented violinist.

Um, so, yeah, like I said, we had that in, so we had that in, uh, and jazz band in band and symphonic band and symphonic band. Well, yeah, you would have a violin and the symphonic band. No, our symp, she was the only um string instrument in our symphonic band. What our symphonic band at Horlick was all just like woodwinds and that was our band, you know, just woodwinds and brass and drums. And she was the, she was the only full time a string instrument in there except for the time where they wanted me on string bass instead of, you know, bass guitar or something. And then, even then me coming in on base was not a normal thing.

That was a special thing. Hm. So, yep. So they followed right in that tradition there in Yellow Card with, of Dave Matthews and just going on with that. It's kind of cool.

I mean, violin and like rock punk, pop, whatever kind of music. It sounds really good, I think. I mean, that was a, a mainstay of the early two thousands rock music, pop music, punk music. It's a good thing. It was a good thing to happen. Look, I am still a fan of horns and that in sky shut it.

I mean, they were Chicago is the, the good scum man. Oh, I, I'm going back to, like, five armed frenzy. I'm going earlier, days earlier. Yeah. Like the band in Chicago. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I like them, I like them a lot and they got horns in their stuff. Yeah. But classic rock, I grew, I grew up with five armed Frenzy in that.

So, what say it, it was one of, one of the songs that you had on a playlist of mine um that you, that you put on the playlist that I have. Ok, I wanna say it was Five Iron Frenzy because it was a Sky song. And when I was driving with Matt in Chicago and heading back to the venue, did it come on, it came on and he just like, like stopped like everything. I, we were kind of like chatting a little bit and like, it just like distract him. He was like, no way I ever would have thought I'd be listening to this song right now and just like, turned it up. He probably, oh, so he turned, he turned it up and he was like, no way. It was so funny.

OK, so I gave you a couple of songs that we did in there. Uh Invictus, probably not that one. No, every New Day. That, that's by five friends of you every New Day. But the other ones that could fit in there would be our darkest hour from Insiders and Sinner Songbook from Insiders and I was like, there's a couple but I think it was 500 every New Day. Wow. Ok. Yeah, he's back, he's back in his teenager days.

He was, so, he was back in his teenager glory days. Yeah. So that was, that was, that was hilarious. I was like, good job Paul. Yeah. I know. Exactly. Yeah. I know. I know. Your brother-in-law. No different ma ma ma drummer Matt. Oh, that one? Yeah. Oh, even better. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. You're probably like, yeah, that, that's not, not on my playlist normally. Yeah. The, the funniest thing is then one of their songs came up. It was like a live recording of one of their older.

Oh, he just, like, he just, like, laughed. She's like, and skip. I just died. It was so funny and skip. All right. So we were talking about the only one. Yeah. Violins and stuff. Uh, but, yeah, so, lyric, like I said, lyric wise.

Nothing really crazy out there. Just, it's that sappy teen angst love song of the early twenties. Oh, absolutely. You know, and, and the thing is the sad thing is all the current day sappy teen angst love songs sound exactly the same to me lyric wise nowadays. Not much has changed on them. No, no, no, I'd agree with that.

They're all about running my life into the ground. Can't hold on for too long. I made my mistakes. I've let you down. Well, it's that, or you're the only one for me. You spun me around.

It's that, or if they were mistreated and they were hurt by something, the other person. But this one, it's just them going, you know, I, I'm the one who screwed up. Yeah. So if you had to rate it, the lyrics one through five, what would you give us? It can be brutal if you want. You don't have to be nice for me. Oh, it is. I'm at like a 2 to 3, but I can't do a 2.5 because you don't allow 2.5. So, which one is it? Two or three before you give it his final ring?

I, I forgot to read this quote. I, oh, I can't believe I forgot to read this quote about it. It made me laugh so hard because it made me think of another band theory of a dead man. Oh, boy. I love them. You'll understand why, when I read this quote, why you figure out two or three in your head? Ok. The quote is this, I bet again about only one. We try not to write very many chick songs because there's definitely enough of those in the world.

There are enough records that have 15 songs about the same girl who did the same thing to the same guy. Yeah. And I, and I wrote in there looking at, you know, a dead man here. Absolutely. So, oh, my gosh. So that being said, then I'm, I'm just gonna do it too.

You're gonna do it too. I think so. Ok. I like the melody a lot more than I like the lyrics on it. Wow. I was trying to write two and it changed the two into o clock.

A, well, I'm gonna be a little more optimistic than you might do three. I am even a three. Ok. Now, the audio, we already talked about the violin and the influence of Dave Matthews band. It's very early pop punk. Even if you, if you watch a music video with the, the captions turned on and this is, it always drives me crazy a little bit. Like if someone has never been able to hear in their entire life, right? And you turn this on for them, how do they know what romantic pop punk music sounds like?

Um, if they've never heard in their entire life that has to do with, with, I would say, well, the lyrics that's a good part about good part about it, how he's singing it. But this is a lot of desperation. Yeah. But this is the, the, where this, uh, close caption is, is it not, is it an instrumental? It's an instrumental section? That's true. That is really weird. How does someone who has never been able to hear anything? Understand what this means?

Just like whenever there's like a, like you're watching a TV show Close caption, you know, and it goes heavy. Death metal. What does that mean for someone who never has heard it? They're like, that's depressing.

So, anyway, sorry, I, I, that's a, that's a good point. That's a really good point. You know, someone who maybe was able to hear younger and they lost their hearing over time. They would be able to be like, ok in their head, they probably understand it. But someone who is maybe born deaf, I feel sorry for them because I supposed to be, what is this thing? What is this thing? Um But yeah, so outside of the influence of Dave Matthews, because that we talked about that the audio wise and the wonderful via Lynn's solo in the middle of the song that got cut out of the music video. So it probably was too boring.

They, they just didn't know what to do for what I find what I find funny is and they don't do this in the music video. But like in the actual recording of the song, the singer Ryan Key, he actually plays bass for the, this song. But it like all the videos you see he's on guitar. Yeah, that's weird. Yeah, I was just like, oh, even in the uh Emo's not dad video, he's on guitar. He's a, he has a guitar with him.

Well, no, he doesn't have it with him. He picks it up with the psychic powers from the core, the force. Yes. Of the romantic pop punk music. Yep. Exactly. Mm. So, it's like, um, so, audio wise, what would you give this? It was all four. Really? 3 to 4. I just, it's fun. Ok. Well, you know, the early two thousands was a whole different era than now.

Now it's all angst and depression and everything. Even with him breaking up, he's still happy and punky and poppy. Well, well, actually I have to see, I'll have to play that one in the one in the car. I'm trying to think of how long ago that song came out. But what song, that song it's called Bullet by, uh, Hollywood Undead. Very fun song. Ok. Very depressing song though.

It, it, it, it's, it's great. Maybe I have a song to play for you too. Uh, I know I already know what my next song pick is going to be in that, obviously not next month, but the month after, just because I encountered this band at Life Fest and I think you should have to deal with it as well. Oh, boy. Ok. So I'm just giving you a heads up fair enough and I'm going to pick one of their song. I already know what song I'm gonna pick of theirs because it's just going to.

Yes, it's, it's b and a former coworker were laughing that much while listening to the song. I ran into a former coworker while there, I was sitting down on the grass and then he goes like Paul is that you can look. Yep. It's him and me and him were chatting for a bit. Nice. Anyways, that's cool though.

So, if you listen to the song, it's an apology that a guy writes to a girl for breaking up with her and about why he needs to work on himself and how he can't put things back together and everything. Before we go into the music video, I think we have to talk about the emo's not dead video because it's just entertaining as all get out. That that is quality. That was a good one. So if you haven't seen it yet, um this is honestly probably gonna turn into a uh yeah, this will turn into a youtube only portion here because copyright stuff and even on youtube stuff, I'll get copyright stricken with it, but it won't get, it'll get stricken as in it won't be available in a certain country that starts with an R. Hm. And that's about it like it says no damage to the channel just won't be available in this country. Sorry. So this is gonna be inception layers of fun. Um If you, if you're on video, I am going to play this full screen because at least part of it, not all of it and we'll stop and comment on it, but it's entertaining because it starts with the breaking of a pug mug. Uh Oh God, you OK. Yeah, I just broke your mug? Which one? A pug mug? First off. Why a pug mug bug mug, man? What's up with Emo guys as hugs? Cute. So if you've never seen Emo's um not dead, it, the guy starts out normal in every video and then he ends up turning into this the typical stereotypical emo guy.

If, if that makes sense. All right. And as you watch a video, you will see that quickly transform my pug B I'm so sorry. Oh, now remember what the lyrics are of yellow card of only one. How broken this fragile thing now. And I can't, I can't pick up the pieces. OK. Remember that? So beautiful as yellow card as only one kicks right in. Not that dramatic. And he's emo now he's there with the bleached hair.

You know that that's there. The lip ring, the dark hoodie. You could see his original hair color at the top hoods up. You see the mascara on him and everything was painted black and he's just staring up at her. Well, mouthing to these lyrics.

There he goes and I can't as he's holding his pug mug in his hands and she's like I got it. You can't put together the pieces of their bug mug. They pick up the pieces. I If you stop all this BF why are you talking about? How about that? He's giving up while he's dancing on the floor on his knees just like, oh my goodness.

I don't know how this guy started, but by the way, they did like a emo's Not Dead Cruise with all these bands and everything. Oh, that is dope. That's cool. All right. Continue on his black nails.

Holding the pug mug together. Not able to keep it together. I will buy you a new pug. Oh, thank you. Is there an emo kid here? Oh, no. It's like somehow the song summons the original guy and here he is. Ryan Key. Ryan Key. What happened? I broke his favorite mug. You're a monster. And I love how, what they do this and he opens his arms and he just starts like floating from the door to across the room ghostly and she even goes, are you floating? Is, is he just like floating, like staring at her as he floats across the room now? And yeah, that this is the weird part where he's like by the original guy and he's like shaking his hands like come on up, he's like come up, come up, come up like what the heck is going on? Why? Why do you have to be weird to you? My boy. Stupid man. Oh Cool. And now here's where the force is going, where he's something in the guitar from the corner. And then of course, you head bang into a guitarist and drummer, which I just noticed the last time I watched this, um he has pink drum set with a green snare and he's not playing on the correct symbol going on the Hayats.

He's not playing on a crash, you know. You know, they're not really playing. No. Yeah. But you can at least just hit the right one and she goes, I love yellow card. I love yellow card. But that, that was probably my first introduction to, uh, not that video, a great introduction. Yep. And I honestly don't know how I got there to be honest. And then I realize a lot of the music I listened to.

Yeah, comes from that emo generation stuff and I'm like, darn right. I'm like, oh no, I have issues apparently so. Like, yep, that, but at least he brings a lot of humor to all the videos that he does. So I'm not gonna be upset about that. Yeah. Oh, for sure. It's just, it's just ridiculous stuff. It's great. Yeah. So sorry. Audio people. We're back now. We had a, we had just stuff on there for, you know, youtube only. Anyways. Ok. Good. Wow. OK. What? You're not a fan of the audio people? What's going on with that?

I love audio people. That's all I do. All right. That's all I listen to if I listen to the podcast. So, music, video, music, video, music, video, time, stupid. Sweet. Tell me how you feel, sir. It was very confusing. Why was that? I mean, it wasn't, it wasn't, it just didn't make sense. Ok. Why was it confusing? Because it, I mean, started off what with the guy and the girl walking there and you could see behind them there was a, uh, like a tent for signing up for the military or something like that. And then as we're walking, but they, they're like walking down a road, whatever or something and then come across the line of police dudes and then it's a crowd behind them and then it's just like, yeah, uh I guess, well, we've seen plenty of in the past couple of years but like protesting stuff.

I enjoyed the sections of the song where it just showed the band playing, performing the song if that's all they did that have been. Yeah. It, it, it didn't, it didn't match the, the song because so the song again is this like apology song like, oh I'm sorry, while breaking up. But I need to do this and then the video is like them protesting the war. Yeah. Weird. I was like, I don't, I don't understand, I don't understand this. Why, what's going on?

What, why help me help me help me make it make sense because it doesn't make sense right now, not clicking. But beyond that, beyond that little little dissonance, let's say there are other things that it was like, man, this is so early. Two thousands. Oh What are you talking about? About like the, the, the frosted tips? Yeah. The frosted tips are the main thing style of everything. Yeah. And then just, I don't know, like the way they were when they had, when they were showing scenes of them playing on stage, how they were on the stage was very early two thousands. Like you saw like all the bands from that era, like staged the same way on stage for a music video.

If that makes them pay. I have to look at that again because it's always the stage with, you know, all the band members on it. But the people like surrounding him and then I was just like, man, that is so early two thousands. It's just like 2000 nostalgia drip overload. And I was just like, all right, cool. And I, and I made a note, I was like, oh, it's so cute as they spin in turn while holding hands, while chaos breaks out around them at the end of the video, like there's smoke bombs going people running and they're just sitting there, their arms like criss cross lost, holding onto each other spinning in the smoke just lost in the moment with each other.

Nothing can get in the between the can't, nothing can get in between them, which I'm like this, this goes 100% against like the, the the video that's just going on and then it ends in the most weird way of them like standing up to a tank. Yeah. Its like this line of tanks. This is all war protest.

I was like, what, what, what, who, and then I was reading on an interview and they were saying that they had a lot of people pitch, um, ideas at them for this and this was the one they chose. I was like, wow, so bizarre. So, if you had to give it a ring of 1 to 5 music video, yeah. One. Ok. I'm right there with you.

I mean, the only, I mean, yeah, if they just kept it as like a band performance, it'd been probably the three. Ok, let me ask you this and I, and I'm expecting, yeah, I know what I'm expecting because I asked this for every song. You know what I'm asking to ask, how's this line up biblically at all? Does? No. Ok. I mean, you can twist things around, I suppose.

Ok, I mean, I, if I really wanted to force myself to read this in a way where you could, like, throw it on a Christian radio station. Yeah. No, not happening. I don't think so. No. No. But if you have to give a score, what would you say?

Well, I mean, one, ok, I'm right there with you. There's really not much there. I mean, I can pick up the pieces but it's not offensive at all. It's not, it's not like current modern radio, like where you listen to August and all that on it. I'm kidding. I'm figuring out what song I wanna pick for next month I, I'll, I'll send be like, here's my August, here's my five hour Frenzy Burt playlist. I'm kidding. I would not do that.

That'd be creepy and weird. Weird. All right, cool. So, Aaron, let me ask you this. Yes, it would. You would put on your playlist. Oh, yeah. Really? All right. Still a jam. I enjoyed it. That kind of surprises me. Yeah. And need to get like other stuff on my phone or just like. Yeah. Ok. II I will say yes and it already is. Yeah. Um But no, that's kind of surprised me that it would for you. So that's good. I wanna play it on the drums.

It's kind of fun. I like it for like just like a, a high hat to the bell on the rides or like stuff that sounded cool. I like that in the that's like the verse section I think. Yeah. And then uh yeah. Damned Mr Johnson. What song adventure are you taking us on for next year or next year? Next year, next month, right? What, what song adventure are you taking us on for next month? So this is Tough turf. Ok. What makes it, what makes it tough?

Alright, I'm gonna, I'm just gonna read uh the names of the songs. Do you want to read the names of the songs or do you want me to just roll D four and be reading the names of the songs? Ok. Provision. Who's it? By Fault Line. Oh, ok. You already know Susie said the second one.

I was like, yep. I know who now? Leveler? Oh, where was, where did the other one go or Martyr? Yeah. Ok. You finally pulled the card, haven't you?

Well, next month is August. So I walked right into that one. Buy it as well. All right. So, I don't know any of those songs that you don't. So, are you, do you want to pick one or do you want me to roll D Four?

Oh, this is so difficult because two of the songs are from one album which I think just fairly, somewhat recently turned 10 years old. Ok. The other two are just also really, man, there's so many good ones, but I just figured these, these are the four of them just like, hm. Oh, what about, oh, what about that one? Uh Blackwood would be a cool one too. Blackwood. This is stressful. Uh So what do you want to do, sir? Martyr? All right. That's the one. And then yeah, I think that's the one. Yep. Uh Spell that for me, please. Ma R wasn't it?

Yeah, ma RT yr. Ok. I was like what? Ma RT y r ma rt yr Yes. So next month we are doing Marty, we could have done one from the new album. Now. It's OK. We're doing Martyr August Burns Red for the month of August Aaron has officially found a way to get me to go at this and listen and multiple times and review a metal song.

I'm not guaranteeing I will be nice and gentle about it either. It's a good one. Right. Let me see here. I'm pretty sure it's good.

Oh, you selected it already. So this will be entering, right. Of course. It's good. Uh Sure. Let's see how much of the closed captioning I'm gonna have to use for this one. Yeah. Oh, wait 100% of it. Uh-huh. Yep. This is going to be entertaining.

It's actually funny because I don't even like, know the lyrics of the song at the moment. What's the, what's the first word of the song? Demand? Ok. What number, what's the, what track order on the album? What's the second song? Ok, I believe. And what number album is it?

Well, um, it would be, oh, gosh. Ok. Uh Which one came out first? Was it? Uh oh, without looking it up? Ok. If I look it up. Um Oh, hello. Ok. Yeah. So that one, that one, that one, I think it's the sixth studio album, full length.

I think it's the sixth one. Right? Locked in your answer. Uh Yeah. Don't, it's their seventh album which, what's considered the albums? I don't know. It's, it, I'm looking at it and it says Martyr is the second track off of August Burns Red seventh album.

Found in Far Away Places seventh. That's what it says. And when you look up, hey, you know what? I don't know. What are you looking at? I am looking at lyric genius.

I guess you're gonna have to help look at that and figure that out and we'll figure that out for next month when we talk about the wonderfulness that is called August Ferns Red. Ok. If you include their holiday album and their live live recorded, um, it's like a, a live recording of one of their shows. If you include those, then it's, you know, 123. Wait, what the heck, you only have to include Sled and Hill. What is this Carousel Kings thing? What the heck? I don't know. We can take a look at that later. The sixth one. Get out of here.

I don't know because it says Thrill Seeker messengers constellations lover Ledden Hill Rescue and restore, found in far away places. That's if you include that two, 4567. Yeah. If you include the holiday album, why wouldn't you? Well, because it's, they did a holiday song every year and then one year they just did a full album which had some of the songs that they've already previously done as singles over the years. And then, yeah, but as far as original content and that covers the or Yeah, because the cover can be different than the original.

It's whatever they did with it. Yes. Anyways Aaron has finally pulled the trigger. So that means I will not feel bad pulling the trigger next month.

What I'm gonna pull. What trigger did I pull? You pulled the metal trigger finally? Oh, ok. That one. Yeah, that's fine. That's all good. No worries there. It's gonna be sick.

Well, someone's gonna be sick and that's gonna, but I guess you have to find out next month what that looks like, uh, from us and the next episode we got coming up here we're actually gonna go live on the location for part of it. Potentially. Oh, they're charged. Oh. Oh, worked. Yep. Oh, so we're gonna go live on location in a little bit here and uh we're gonna see how woke is Aaron's grocery shopping?

Oh my gosh, my gosh. Or the grocery shopping that his mom does for him. It's just because I don't have to go do it. I love it. Thank you for choosing us this week. I got nothing else.

I do grocery shopping from time to time. It's good though. I'm shocked to find this out. It has been the summer of shocking revelations. What shocking revelation will we learn in the next episode with Aaron as he goes grocery shopping. Tune in to find out. See you next week.
