Thanksgiving 2023

Thanksgiving comes around once a year, and this year we reflect on what we have to be thankful for as we come to a close on our current year (2023) and look forward to what is to come in 2024. This is not a deep or long episode, but it is one where we want to talk about what we are thankful for this year - as well as why you should not service garage doors on your own.

Well, happy Thanksgiving, everybody. I'm glad everyone enjoys these faces that your air makes because I enjoy them too. That's how I tend to start off every video in case you've noticed. Hey, you make the face. The poor people. And that usually ends up being the thumbnail too.

Oh no, I'm dying on this one. I already know it. Oh, no. Well, happy Thanksgiving, this episode will actually come out literally the day before Thanksgiving. Oh, Aaron had to do math in his past. Wait a minute, what?

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah. It was literally the day before. Yeah, this would literally be the day before. Literally. So. I mean, wow. Wow. Happy Thanksgiving with, you know, both of us were black, essentially, no happy colors here at all.

Well, I think I have some pretty colors in my hat. Yeah, yeah, you do. I got pretty colors. Yep, yep, yep. And who knows, maybe there'll be some good news and happiness coming there until you by then. You never know. I hate you. Oh, fine. Only time will tell.

Fine, I see how it is. I didn't say anything else to you on that. I know, I know. This is what I know. And there's the redness in the face again. I hate it. Yeah, I'm looking for the Thanksgiving, spend time with family. Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. Yeah. No, it will be good.

I already know what I'm doing for this Thanksgiving, so... How do you already know? How do I know? Because I already got my invite for Thanksgiving. Oh, I guess you might know so to die. Never mind. Oh. Oh. My family. Extra familial? Not yet? My own family. Your future family? My blood family. Your future family? I know my family that already is.

Sorry, I have to do this to pull Aaron's leg at this point. Just like it's so easy. Oh, man, my throat's going to be toast after this. I don't even remember where that message was whatever. No I got I got the invite back a few weeks ago actually with the Petersons and they they're like hey what are you doing for Thanksgiving I was like nothing not that I know of yet and they're like oh you're coming to Heather was like you come to my parents house. I'm like okay. In Lake Geneva area. Oh, okay. Oh, nice. Heck yeah. So I'm like, okay, they're like, bring the chili. Because that's all the kids talk about every year is the chili.

I'm like I didn't make it as hot last year. It's weird like is that last year. No last year was very tame. I didn't take it. You didn't have it last year. No. I was like two years ago. All right. Yeah. So I didn't I didn't make it a sound last year and I took home a ton. What? So they want it hotter.

They want it hotter. I'm like, I gotta find the balance. Gotta find the what? The balance of the heat. Oh, the balance. I thought I was like, I thought you said barrels at first? I said barrels of what?

The barrels of whiskey. A whiskey chili chili. There is that. Yeah, I'm gonna try a new recipe this year. Okay. What kind of pepper you throw in there, pepper axe? And I think I'm going to go Pepper Z. Oh, whoa. Whoa. Whoa. So the hottest pepper.

That hasn't even been made yet. Hasn't even been invented yet. I'm going to go exactly with that Pepper Z and just right on it, dude. No, I'm not going to get Separacts. You serious? Hosts, if you can do a little bit, Habanaro made it that spicy that one year.

Yeah, I might be pepperacts would be. That would wreck your bones. Aaron would never be off the toilet for a while. I'm calling him to work for the week at least. I'm gonna be like, be like, hey new boss, you know that whole new unlimited PTO thing? Yeah, we're gonna put that to the test, even though I'm a new employee.

I mean it works though it does but you normally think of turkey ham green bean casserole because of silly tradition stuffing even though okay I'm gonna say this right now don't don't say you don't like stuffing oh I love my grandma's stuff This white stuffing thing is bland. What white stuffing? Are you talking about like white people stuffing? Yes. Okay, take a little bit of offense to that. All right, what's... But yes. You know what? So... I'm used to like stuffing that's hardy like hardy like it has it like first off it's rare that I see stuffing that's not my grandma's recipe that has raisins in it. That's so good. I didn't stutter, did I didn't pull Biden and say another word but raisins.

Raisins. Raisins. And stuff. I have to ask my mom what she puts in her stuffing. Oh, you would know if you had raisins because they would be very apparent. Right, and that's where I'm like, yeah, I know she definitely doesn't put... Raisins. It changes the flavor profile so much by adding the raisins. Like a lot of raisins or?

Oh, there's a lot of raisins. Oh. It's not like you see just a mound of raisins, but you can definitely... If you'd be like in the field like out of picnic you'd be like is that a bunch of ants on the food or is that raisins? And I'm not some big ants man. Have you seen carpenter ants?

Yes, they're pretty big. They're meaty. So, yeah, so raisins in the stuffing and then you mix some gravy in it and then you mix it all together before you stuff it in the bird and then you cook it in the bird. Oh, okay I got I got I guess I got to try some of the stuff not cooked on the stovetop cooked in the actual turkey And so you let all the turkey juices drip into the stuffing while cooks. Okay, it keeps it real moist.

That does sound pretty good. With, with, with the raisins. All right. Well, I have to try some of this stuffing. Oh, it is amazing. No one makes as good as my grandma made it. Like even though we have the recipe, no one's figured out. It's different. There's some differences there.

It's then they're like, I got to make it so much health conscience. No, it's not supposed to be healthy. That's not, well, that's not Thanksgiving. And then, yeah. And then like I have my my aunt she's like, well, I don't like onions so I'm not going to put onions in it.

I'm like, it's not up to you, what you would like and don't like to put in there. Everyone else likes onions. This is the recipe. You put it in there. I don't like celery, but I'll take celery in it because that's the recipe and everyone else likes it.

I'm not a celery fan. I used to hate celery and I still... That's a love-hate thing. There's times where I love celery, and then when I start having too much celery, then I'm like, you know I don't like celery anymore. I'm still not a celery fan. But at least now I found someone who eat pickles for me. Me. You don't live with me? No, but Zina probably does, doesn't she?

Oh, no, with pickles. And yeah, if we're hanging out, yeah, I'll give you the pickles or robbing the pickles. What on? I love bigles. Hey, there you go. You just need to find someone who doesn't like pickles. And then that way you can have their pickles and your pickles and then.

See, and then you find something that you don't like, that they like, so that way you trade. All right, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's a fair game.

Dude, I mean, but I... Oh, pickle juice even. Oh, man. Dude. I did find out that that stings the eye though. Really, it took you that long to realize that.

Well, it's only happened once. It's only gotten in my eye once. Yeah, but what's one of the main things in pickle juice? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What's vinegar? Irritating to my eye. Why is it irritating to the eye? I honestly. It's a different liquid man. It's in what type of liquid is it?

Wait, that's not no. No. No. No. No what? It's not, is it acidic? Yes, that is? Yeah. Is it really? It's not a base. Yeah. thing. I guess yeah, even by the taste of it.

Yeah, you should just know it's acidic I suppose. Good job. Wow. It has a pH of two to three. Okay. The lower the number, the more acidic. Really? So that's pretty acidic. Yep. Seven is considered like neutral. Okay. That's a pH of seven is like neutral. That's like water. Oh, geez, wow, that's a quick. Even water is sometimes like a little alkaline usually sometimes, it's like an eight or nine, or it did, well it depends on where you're at.

Some water just run a little acidic, some run a little alkaline. That's why you can buy like alkaline water at the store because there's the myth out there that Drinking alkaline water will bring your body into an alkaline state which is healthier, blah blah blah blah. Well. But what they kind of forget is you know you drink the alkaline and water kind goes into your stomach where there's acid What happens with alkaline and acid mix? Does it get bubbly? No, they just go it just moves towards the stronger of the two So if the alkaline is stronger than the acid, your acid will move a little more alkaline.

Okay, so it's whatever. Yeah, whatever, but like... It could be lead, you know, it's pretty good for you in the water. Yeah, no. But, uh, wow. I just have to go yeah no so yeah as that that's why I burned your eye he was actually he's all in part of it Oh, maybe that's why I'm having weird eye stuff now.

No, you're just getting old and you probably need glasses eventually. Stop. You're getting towards 30.

I'm not ready for that. You're almost not a young adult. I'm not ready for that. Oh my gosh, yeah, that's bad. What is there a difference between the two? One almost seems like more of like a blue and one seems to be more warm and have more like warm tones to it. It's weird. That is weird. Anyhoo. So you're doing Thanksgiving with your family? Yes. Anything special going on outside of that or just Thanksgiving's family?

As far as I know, Thanksgiving with the family. Thanksgiving Day and Thanksgiving day after Thanksgiving off? Oh, uh, usually, yeah. Okay. Me too, from both my jobs. Yeah. Look at that. What? Yeah, new job. Who? Actually, I'm excited, but...

Already got that to be thankful for. Yeah, well, I have something else to be thankful for. It's like, I'll tell you. I don't think I've told you this story yet. In fact, I know I have it. I told it to Andy on Wednesday, but you weren't there Wednesday, so you didn't get to listen to it. Uh-oh. We'll get there one. Yeah. Uh-oh. All right. Let me just put this way.

The fact that I'm alive still is wonderful. What? Oh my gosh. Does it have to do with being with Mother Dearest? Yes. Oh my, of course it does. Oh my gosh. And I'm not talking like a hypothetical, my mom got mad at me sort of deal. I'm talking about... It could have gone really, really wrong. Oh no. Like, I don't think there was enough safety gear at my mom's house for what could have gone wrong if it had gone wrong. Oh my goodness. Okay. All right. I'm ready. I'm excited. I'm excited for that. So we'll get there when we get. Yeah. Well, thing. Yeah. Dang. All right. All right. All right. So, okay, so just Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, and then you go back to work on the Monday.

Yeah, yeah, right your old... Are you going to go Black Friday shopping? Heck now. I have to go Black Friday shopping for my mother. I'm so sorry. You don't have to. Well, she really wants you to or or do you have?

I kind of do. Oh, okay. What is that? So. This ties into another thing I'm thinking before. So remember the last time we were recording in person. And my mom video called me. Yes, I do. That didn't make it into any of the Yo video.

edits by the way. She called me on video. First off, she thought I called her. So she was already confused there. But she had called because Zina had tripped her and she fell. And she put her hand when in dog poop while she was trying to get up. Yeah. But she's doing that whole forgetfulness and falling thing a lot more. So I tried buying one of you know because they have like the life alert phone I help like can you help can't get up right?

Yeah, they work right in the house because they go through like Wi-Fi and then but they As soon as you get out. But they need a landline sort of deal like inside the house right. Okay. But yeah as soon as you get outside the house. Then they have like their mobile ones they have right okay so I got her one I found one online it was all stylish it was a watch it was a smart watch They had like fall detection and can automatically call emergency help and all that stuff and you could talk to the responders and everything right there watch Great, perfect, wonderful, doesn't work here. So I get it, you know, turn it on, blah, set it up, signal bars all empty. I'm like, oh man, why are they? What's going on? And of course they have to be a Saturday that roars like raining. Mm, so perfect. And so I call it support and they're like, well I need you go outside and stand outside. I'm like, seriously? Okay, fine, fine, whatever.

standing outside da da da da da da da da da. No signal. They're like, can you try placing an emergency call through it? They're like, we'll make a note so that way they don't actually send responders. Right. So I'm like, oh right, fun, five, five. Nope, no call. Yeah. So I'm like, so I'm sitting there working with them and I'm like, and I'm looking online like, okay, it says it goes through LTE, I was like, LTE, do you have a 5G one?

She's like, no, we only have LTE. She's like, oh, let me look at this. She goes AT&T, excellent 5G coverage. That's great. Does device doesn't work in 5G.

No LTE coverage in your area. Dang. And then they're like, well, let me check the Verizon one because we can send you a Verizon version. No LTE coverage of Verizon in your area. I'm like, well, this doesn't mean no good then.

I was like, we need to send this back. And she's like, okay, we need to send it back. And so then I started going through and actually while you were upstairs doing what you're doing, I actually got a call from one of the medical companies like I was researching. Of course, guess what?

They use AT&T, LTE. All the companies use AT&T LTE. Why? I don't know. So, the reason I have to go Black Friday shopping is to get.

I have to get her a Pixel Watch 2 LTE. Because Pixel Watch 2. has fall detection and has emergency call service abilities. Separate of the phone and it runs on T-Mobile LTE, which has service here. Oh my. Because I'm gonna put her on Google Fye with her watch. Okay, and that has LTE service in the area. Wow, why don't you just wait till Cyber Monday? Because I'm not. I'm not. But the fact that it's a smart watch that has all that fall detection stuff built into it. Mm-mm. I was like, that's 400 bucks I have to spend once. And then like five hours a month. Why are you going? A $400 watch? Yeah. Wow. This was like 600.

I okay you know what I never mind I'm not going to talk and this is double the weight of the watch my mount beginning man yeah I guess I can't talk never I remember I was looking at watches one day. I mean there were like a few hundred bucks to 500 bucks. Yeah, but you're looking at a standard watch. Yeah, you're looking at like a chronograph, mechanical chronograph. Yeah, this is a smart watch that can measure all your... Vitals and all that jazz. Yeah, no, I was just looking at something to literally tell me the time. Yeah. So, you know what, that's a good investment.

Pro tip, pro tip, you're looking for a watch, and you're looking for something that won't shatter oh easily or won't scratch real easily, get a sapphire. glass. Oh, right, right, that stuff's strong. Yeah, that won't chatter row easily and won't scratch roll easily, but it is pricey. Saffire glass. Yeah, this is sapphire glass. Oh, okay. That's why I don't like have a screen protector on it or anything because like I have banged this up against everything in the world.

There's no scratches on it yet. Oh dang, nice. Heck yeah. Well, what was it? And when I say bang it, like I will swing my arm and hit the corner of the wall. Right. And dead on. I remember seeing the video of the demolition ranch.

I mean, they were shooting a cube of sapphire, I thought it was. And I mean, I mean, some of the rounds did, well, I don't remember how, how high they got until it started making it. But I mean, that's getting shot by a bullet. A Cuba sapphire is going to be a lot stronger than a little thin slice. Correct. But I was like just the fact though that like they could.

Well, for sure, like the 22, I think it didn't even like touch it. I don't know if it made us like a smudge or not. Like that stuff was strong. Yeah. So, yeah, if you're going to get a watch that, especially you, your job currently. Oh, right. Where you may bang it against stuff, the Sapphire will protect it greatly. Cool. Especially if it's a watch you want to have for a long time, you know, go on dates with and all that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Gotta look fly, you know. Exactly. Why are you laughing?

I did, I just had... I don't know. I don't know. I just... Yeah. I do know why. Uh huh? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I flustered him. Watch this, yeah, they're pretty cool.

This kind of a I don't know I do like watches. I've just haven't worn one that I could cover up my scar Whoa, but I like scars. I don't know. I'm thankful for those All right. So nothing else crazy going on.

Okay, so then we'll get into last part here. The last part. Yeah, look at that. What? What? What? Unless there's something crazy going on for your Thanksgiving. I guess now. Now. See? Just another year, just hanging out with the fam, man. Just another year. All the crazy stuff...

The start of nuclear war just kind of hangs over everything. Right, right, yeah there's that. Okay, fair, fair enough. But I mean as far as like family stuff like you just get together the family then whatever happens with the family happens with the family. I won't know anything crazy until afterwards.

Get to recreate fallout. Yeah, man. Oh, so you can fall out. You know that TV show is coming out, right? No. Yeah. They have a fallout TV show? It should start airing like this month.

No, November, November starts airing. I didn't realize they're making a show of that. Yep. Yeah. So it's not going to be based on any of the games. It's going to be based in the universe, the fallout universe from those games, but its own storyline. Oh, okay. All right. Could be? Do you know what it's on? Off the top of your head?

Not off the top of my head, but that doesn't mean anything. But whatever it is, I probably have access to it. Yeah. I probably don't. Is that on Amazon Prime? It is. Ah, sick. All right. Bet. I thought it was supposed to start airing this month. No, no. No, no, not until 2024.

Oh, well that's awkward. April, 2024. Wait, no, this is not October, at least by the time this goes out. No. So, okay, April then, huh? All right. Yeah, I thought it was sooner than that.

Oh, well, that's all right. I don't recognize any of the actors in it anyways. So it's going to be trash. I'm just kidding. Can't say that. Could be cool. So we'll see you have to see what it is, but I know that they are, yeah that's coming out.

Making a fallout show. Yeah, that'll be interesting. I always enjoyed that, the game, fallout, so. Yeah, they've done well. I just wish they would do... How do I do I say this?

Fall out should stay fallout mechanic-wise. like I'm playing Starfield. It's like Skyroom and fallout mechanics together and... No. No, okay. It needs to not do that and needs to...

They should have had their own mechanics for it instead they're like no let's make... It didn't make for as good of a game as possible. Also they tried some new things which like all the planets which there are hundreds of planets. are procedurally generated, so they're not the same for each play-through. And like all the major landmarks are randomized on what planets they're on and everything, so they tried that, but the plants just become boring.

There's not a lot to them. That sucks. So I'm like, they're. They tried, but it failed. They need to do better. But anyways. Yes, so more hanging over the head there, but nothing else going on besides that.

Thank you knew this was coming. I know. All right, what are you thankful for? You knew this was coming. Yeah, I know. I'm thinking for another year. Man, what else am I thankful for though? Shoot, dude. I mean probably a lot of the same stuff from last year, but what was I thankful for last year?

I don't know, probably a lot of stuff I'm thankful for this year. Which is? Gosh. Remind me, refresh me. Oh man. Oh, man. Oh, friendships. New and old. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, uh, man, there's.

So, I'm, well, I'm also thankful for church. I don't know, it's, I've been thankful for, I guess, how. for the merge and stuff. I don't know. I've been enjoying it personally.

It's been going well as far as I know I'm sure there's probably plenty of stuff that's a whole lot of fun. going on, but, oh man, I've been thankful for how it's been going, at least as far as I'm aware. Yeah, new, like the new friendships coming from there. Goodness. What else? I mean there's so much I suppose really just go all the things. All the things, dude, just everything, you know, even, even the hard times, you know? Even the hard times, you know? Because with the hard times, you grow to be stronger.

I'm having trouble reading if you're being serious or not. I mean, it's... I mean, you do, but... Um, man, I don't know. So far, this, like, this fall, that hasn't been too terrible.

I guess compared to recent years, I don't know, as far as like my, the head and stuff, I don't know, there's the moments where it's... Definitely, I guess, rough. But overall, it's been a pretty good, decent fall so far. As far as the whole mental head stuff goes. But, I don't know, family, the family, family, church, friends, new and old. What? What else am I thankful for, Paul?

I mean, there's such a long list. You tell me. Okay, Gene Simmons, what? I'm see I'm afraid to even say this because I'm afraid to even say this because I'm gonna say it And then I'm going to be biting myself in the butt later on and be like, now you're an idiot. Normally the phrase is kicking yourself in the butt, not biting yourself.

Oh, I'm see I'm already doing it. I'm okay. Oh my goodness. Wow, that, that, yeah, what was, I was probably biting my tongue. Yeah, that makes more sense. You know, yeah, it's great. So... Go ahead and say it.

No, I guess it's... I don't know, for this year specifically. with the stuff from recent events. Just, I guess, thankful for the spirit. and the whole work of the spirit sort of thing and with the whole like just the I don't know for the like the convictions that have been starting to pop up And I guess it's just I don't know I'm hoping again I know when like we've talked it off off well obviously off of off air sort of thing offline offline off air yeah and more so offline not off air we're not yeah right now But it's is, I guess growth, I'm hoping. that's happening. I guess, yeah, I'm just thankful for, again, yeah, for the spirit, just, I'm hoping that's the spirit that's working in me, that's working in me because it's like, ah, if it's not then I don't want it.

Because I don't know as we've already had all sorts of fun talks about all this kind of stuff but No, I'm hopeful for the growth and I'm just I'm thankful for what's been happening so far with all the stirring of just what is good what is No, what is good to focus on and spend time on Again coming back down to wanting the focus to be something that's honoring to God and not just oh this makes me have fun or feel good inside and doing this I just enjoy it. I don't want to be happy. Well, I don't, sometimes I don't even care about that, but it's just, yeah, it's doing what I want to do sort of thing. And not, obviously it's not that God doesn't want you to do stuff that you enjoy doing. But it's doing stuff that is honoring to him still and finding enjoyment in that because there is plenty of enjoyment to be had. Christians don't have a horrible lie.

You can still find, there's still joy and enjoyment in life. even though I mean, some of the calls are difficult to make. So, yeah, in. I'll just interject something. No, yeah, go ahead. interject away. And I'm not like interjecting anything you just said. No, I'm not. You could say what if I if I if I misspoke correct.

You did not miss speak in any of that. Sick. Okay. And I'll say this reason is because one, obviously part of it, I can't see some of that, you know, behind the scenes, what's happening. you inside your head, mama. But some of it is, yeah, we have had those conversations, but on the flip side, I have also seen externally some of those actions and taking place because of some of those convictions and growth and that in those things. So I will say this to you, sir.

That is a good thing. Yeah. Some of those things I was like, it's taken how many years now? Okay. Man, perseverance is a thing. Yep. Oh, it only took, you know what?

I've known you how long now, it's only taken that long. I don't want to know when the date started for this. Nope. But that being said, we all move at a different pace and we all move at different time. in that's in that right? So I'm not saying like, oh, geez, the wies, man, you're taking forever, just come on.

I mean, no, sometimes that's warranted. Yes, it's definitely warranted. Sometimes it's warranted, but at the same time, it's one of those things that... And I found this through life in general, right? If you try to force a person into doing something versus them finally realizing it and saying, I need to do this, those are two different mindsets on how they walk into the next step. Right, right, for sure. Because the force thing, you're going to eventually go, no, no, no.

Yeah, I don't want it anymore. But you going, I see this in me, I'm being convicted about this. you actually do fire off those text messages or have those conversations and set the boundaries yourself. Yep. It's about darn time. So... Yeah, that is something I have definitely seen in you over the year.

Now obviously I'm speaking very vaguely. Yeah. I'm sure you could think of a few things that maybe I'm alluding to. Yeah. Yes. So, and that's one of the things, I guess that's one of the things, I guess where I'm hoping I'm like, I'm hoping this is like genuine like, yeah, just like the spirit stern stuff into me and be like, hey, like, me too. Me too. So, same thing. I hope it is the spirit starring you and moving you. How do I put this slightly?

Another external force that's motivating you to do it. Right. Well, yeah, and that's... That's where... Oh boy. Don't turn red again.

I don't know who... Oh gosh dang it. Yes that external force is what I'm talking about. Yeah no yeah I know I know I know exactly what you're getting at. But like even like like for the one's blustered. Gosh dang it. For the ones that don't have to do with that, for like the stuff that you had called me out on, or made note, like notice of like that I didn't just... follow through things because oh well you know Paul saying this isn't okay so I yeah I really shouldn't be Obviously I should take it into consideration, but I shouldn't let I guess, in the sense, does that make, is that like, does that make sense, I guess, like letting you be the final say or like the decision maker for me sort of thing? Because I mean obviously I trust you to you want what's best for me.

I know that but yeah I shouldn't just live my life as to what people it doesn't matter what I say or what anyone says whether it'd be a pastor girlfriend, spouse, whatever, right? Maybe spouse you take a little more weight than like your friend, but it doesn't matter what I say, Pat says whatever, but if they call himself an elder or whatever. you still need to test it by the word. If it doesn't line up, then you go with what the word says no matter what. Right. Then, you know, maybe go back to them and say, hey, you know, just say no.

Have that, yeah, have a chat about it and work it out. So you still have to still have to test it the advice you can't just be like well okay someone so said it It's gotta be legit then yeah, still test it I mean because I'll just get stupid with it and be like you're dumb knocking off pick all right yeah you're right. You're gonna push over. It's. Oh, of course. The conversation keeps coming up. Course not. All the time. Uh-huh. Yeah, dude. You're a salesman's favorite person. Dude, I... I'm getting on their bad side and I'm working towards it. Wow. Yeah, I know. Well, at least I want to say that.

There's got to be more times where I actually have to, we'll have to put that to the test, but we'll see. Wow. There's plenty to be the dude. Yeah, there's so there's so much. But those are those are the big ones that come to the mind for this year. All right. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. What about you? So I'm going to start with this one. Oh. I'm thinking well I'm alive. Yeah. I'm serious. Okay, this past Monday. Monday. Monday. Oh, Monday, that has a good day. Well, all right. Why was a good day for you? I already don't. And his face is red again.

I hate this guy. Like when you move your fingers away from your face, white lines. Okay, anywho. So you almost died Monday. So I'm at work on Monday. And I get a text message from my mother. She's like, are you off at work? Or no, are you on lunch? Mike. No, but you know, yeah, what's up? What's up? So I was just like, you know what I don't have meetings right now, whatever.

I didn't give my two weeks notice yet. So I was like, so I was like, so I was like, okay, I was like, yeah, hey mom, what's up? She's like. My garage door stuck and like okay at an angle. At an angle okay. Okay, I'm like, where's your car inside of the garage? Okay. Okay. I'm assuming you've tried the manual releases, all that, she's like, oh yeah, that she's like the door won't budge. But I'm like, she's old, so I'm like, whatever.

Right, it's probably pretty tough. Right. It's like, okay, I was like, I'll tell you what, I'll grab Zina from daycare when I'm out of work, come down, then take a look, see what I can do. And she's like, well, is it okay if I go to class? So that way, I was like, yes, go to class, so that way you're not bugging me. Go to class. Okay. So her friend was gonna pick her up. Oh, okay. Because obviously her car was stuck in the garage. So I'm like, go to class, go to class, okay. She's like, are you sure?

Yes, yes, yes, please leave. She's like, do I bug you? Yes, you bug me why I try to do stuff. We've had this conversation before with her. Okay. Where I'm like, Mother, because like I'm trying to do stuff and she's like over my shoulder, like saying, critiquing every little thing and everything. I'm like. Please leave me to do this and figure it out.

I got my way doing things. Yeah. So I get there and I'm like, oh, why couldn't I have worked later? I got there at 4.30. Oh, wow. Okay. So. She was still there.

She wasn't leaving until 530. No, yeah. So I get there, so you know, garage stores, they go up and down, right? I get there, the left side is up, the right side's down. Oh, jeez, okay. I'm like, oh no, I'm like, what happened? And she's like, well, it's been a little rough.

She's like I did call the people and they're going to come Wednesday and replace my door like she already had a schedule but they weren't going to come for a few months but because she couldn't get it up and down anymore they're going to like come in quickly. Yeah and do it. I'm like, okay, cool. I was like. What are they going to replace? So I was like, so I knew what I could potentially break or not break.

It's just like, everything but the motor. Like, sweet. Oh, wow, okay. I was like, wow. Wow. Track everything. Up for graphs. Wow. So, okay, so it's angled up, right? It's angled. I'm doing it, so I'm looking at the door right now. Okay, okay. So it's right sides up.

Right sides, yeah, so I saw, you know, from the inside, right sides up. So I get in there, I'm like, oh man, so I'm pushing on it, I get on the ledge, jump on it, it's not budget. I'm jumping on it. It's not budgin. That's stuck. So I'm like, you know, so if you look at the rollers in the garage store, you know how you can like move them around and all that. So I'm moving them.

I'm like, okay, so that one's stuck, which is right where it's like angled and that one's stuck down the lower level. For funzies, let's try this. Grab a ratchet, sock and a ratchet set. Oh, jeez. And I take off the bracket where the roller is. Mm-hmm. There's probably a lot of pressure in that bad boy.

Oh yeah, as soon as the last bolt came out, the door fell, the spring burst and all the wires, you know, like the cables, Yes. just started flying everywhere. I could have easily had one go through my head or something like that. I was like, oh, oh, could have had something go through my eye easily. Oh my gosh. Like I'm looking and like the cables are just like hanging right above me.

I'm like, oh, that could have easily. That could have been me. That could have easily. Pierce me a little bit. Oh my. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Whoo! Well I was like, see I told you.

I'm like, hey, you told me I could break whatever. Yeah, this is all fair game right now. What are you talking about? So I was like, okay, I was like, let me see. But so yeah, all the cables and the springs and everything just broke, snapped. So that tells me something must have been caught or something was going on because normally just dropping a door wouldn't cause all that to break. Oh, no. So, wow, like, oh man, I'm like, let's see if I can lift the door.

No, it's super heavy and yeah. Well, it wasn't. Was it just stuck still? Oh, okay. So I tried on doing another one and it was still not. I was like, you know, no, not gonna waste.

I'm like, they're coming Wednesday, I'm like. You'll be a day, low over a day without a car. I think you'll be okay. Yeah, oh yeah. Yeah, Yeah, and they but yeah so fine but that those cables are just all over. Oh dude. There's so much I didn't realize how much pressure is in, well, with like the spring and all that stuff like that, that's risky business. It is, it really is. It just... So, leave it to a professional police because, who?

Yeah, don't be playing around with those things. Yeah, my mom's like, yeah, they were like all happy because they didn't have to undo those themselves. Like, yeah, they're welcome. Yeah, nearly killed me. When the soul so like I said something must have been already bad and that's what's keeping it 10 tense like that because as soon as that it gave and that door went down everything just My mom was like you better not break my motor. I'm like the motor is the least of my concerns right now What about me mother?

It's like oh mother. Oh my gosh. I was like you'd like oh, like oh, It's like the fall detection would not have helped me at all on this one because if it would have hit the fall detection I would have already been dead by the time I hit. It would have been over. So yeah that was definitely that was fun a thankful moment that was a fun Monday night It's even just outside like prancing around outside do to do.

Not knowing anything that's going on. Nope. She was chasing her nightworms No one had been here and something actually happened. I would have been just laying there. Yeah. My mom would have come home from a class. Why is Zenist outside? Why is Paul still here? Hello. Uh... Well, physically body there. Yes, yeah. That's about it. So yeah, that would have been um, that could have been a fun Monday night. Back, oh yeah. No. So, nothing happened there. But, yeah. And I just, the only thing I have to do is I have to be careful between November 29th and the 1st of January.

November 29th and the 1st of January. Yeah, can't do anything risky. That's when my... November 29th is the last day of my current jobs, health insurance. January 1st is the first day in my...

Literally going to Pennsylvania. I know. on a road drive. Yep, I know. That's risky business. Well, you're... Well, you're... I'm a good driver. I know. I've only gone off the road a couple times. Just kidding. I'm kidding. And we're going to go to see, you know, every marine's favorite location. Crayola crayola crayons. Yeah. I'm excited for that actually.

I can say that as the son of a marine. Too bad my dad wasn't alive to ask him about that and see his reactions. Tell me about this. That actually would have been entertaining to see. Yeah. So I didn't learn about the crayenne thing until later in life, but still early, early enough to... Yeah, any who. So yeah, that's one thing that. Still live on Monday.

Yeah, that's a more recent one that's kind of right at the forefront of mind like, oh, that could have been bad. Yeah, oh yeah. Oh yeah, oh yeah, come on come on Midwest don't you know come on Midwest. Geez. Show that Midwest. Yeah, it's really bad. So beyond that new job that I'm starting soon, full remote. Yes. Except for when you have to go to Florida. Oh, darn. Yeah, I mean, that could be, that'll be brutal in the summer time, but.

Well, yeah, if it's in the summer, but they haven't talked about when it will be. But yeah. Then that's not a guarantee that they'll do that every year. That's just a potential. That's a potential, but I mean on company dime. Yeah. Oh well, yeah. Oh, go to Florida. Yeah, I'm so. Oh, dude, that's tough.

Such a hard life. hard life. You're really putting yourself out there for the company. Makes me look at the song from Mandy, such a hard enough life. Such a hard life for us. Oh my goodness. In Florida on the beach, Sipping my ties in the waves. Shh Shhshhshh. Gonna make a parody of that now. Can you know? It can be golden. Yes. So, yeah, new job.

That was, that was, that was quite the interview process for that. Oh boy. 200 plus people applied in the first 24 hours.

All the way along the way I was like, I don't know if I'm going to make it to the next stage. I don't know if I'm going to make it to the next stage. Oh. Oh, I got an offer. I got the job. And then they give me the salary, I'm like, hey, can we raise that up a little bit?

Because, you know, this is what the national average is. This is what you're off from me. And they're like, yeah, we can off, we can up that. So I was like, oh. Even better. Well, then. I'll tell you off-camera. Yeah, offline. Yeah, off-camera what they finally offer, what they, we finally agreed upon. Josh. It'll make, um, oh no.

I think it'll make you spin a little bit. Good thing I'm sitting down. But I'm thankful for all that. You know, I'm thankful for the job I have had at the time because... It allowed me a lot of flexibility for this past year with between my mom stroke my aunt and hospice my uncle.

kind of in weird states with cancer in that so it's just like okay now new job's gonna offer that same kind of flexibility but still it was you don't find a lot of jobs that give you PTO specifically for taking care of family members. That's nice. That's separate from your vacation PTO. Oh, okay, that's real nice then. Yeah, so like they give you a bank of volunteer PTO. a bank of family care PTO and a bank of your first like you know your sick PTOs are all into your PTO oh okay okay but I mean still yeah and they give you on average like 22 days a year Plus holidays plus two floating holidays That just means you can use them when you want right? Yeah when we went to Grand Rapids that there's in Friday for holidays for me So what holidays did you use for that?

I just said make them a holiday and they said okay they're holidays. Oh No, so I get all the federal holidays I get it I get all the federal holidays I get all the federal holidays I don't my current job northwest You get all the federal holidays plus two floating holidays. Gotcha. Yep, all right, I follow. So essentially two more PTO days. Yes. But the only rule on those is like on PTO you can take that in one hour chunks on holidays you have to take the whole day.

Oh okay okay so that's that's the difference so thank you for a job that allowed me some flexibility during some family. time. Yeah. Yeah. Some stress there over the summer with that. Ooh, buddy. That took a, I took a hit to my mental health after that part a little bit, but it seems to be on the mend at this point, so that's good.

That's good thing for all that then I'm mentally stable at this point because a couple years ago a few years no not a couple years a few years ago not not the best state of mind Tuss the diamonds flying I know 2017 was really bad year at the 17. Yeah, because I went into inpatient 2018, start of 2018. Yeah. Yeah, so 2017, Dan, I mean, what, six years ago? Going on seven? Going on seven? I mean that's a ways away but yeah that's like a little another year away.

Yeah, so thankful for that that mentally been stable. Even though it's a lot of work, I've really really been thankful for the new church I've been at. A lot of good connections, a lot of good conversations, a lot of good preaching, a lot of good teaching. preaching and teaching. Yeah. So I've been thankful for that, being able to get involved in that, especially with everything else that goes on in my life that some people would just kind of look at me and be like, nope. And I'm seeing that a lot more.

Yeah, we'll get into that now. We're not going to get into that right now on this. But I've been seeing especially online a lot more of the whole. Oh, you're someone who's this.

Well, you can't be a Christian. You're this, you can't be a Christian, you're this, you can't be a Christian. Okay. You know, fill in whatever the line is, X, Y, or Z, that someone may struggle with. And I've been seeing that a lot online recently and I'm just sitting there going How do you Part of me wants to like yell at them, but then I go that's not going to do anything right.

Hey I don't know them it's online So at most I might leave a comment sometimes it might come a little snarky because me snarky never. Oh, okay. But beyond that, like after a little comment, I'll just kind of let them yell into the voice. Because, why bother? So, but I have been real thankful for the new church I've been at that it's been real solid. I haven't seen any issues that have caused me to go, huh? Yeah, that's good. And again, this is from me being.

most Sundays in both services as well as on youth group. doing all the youth group stuff even though you know youth pastor is a wonderful rapper yeah and not my cup of tea at all I actually never called that him back to his face yet. I'm Toby Mac. Wanna be, Toby Mac.

We want to be, okay, I didn't. Next time I see him maybe I should do that. Hey, how's it going? Wanna Be, T want to be back? What do you mean? But wasn't N.F one of his like inspirations? Oh yeah. Yeah. Well, of course he's white and he's trying to wrap so.

Oh my God, I'm just... So then Toby Max should be his inspiration too. Sure, yeah. Toby Mac was more, I mean, yeah, he has, he definitely has like the rapping, like I guess moments. Yeah, but he was... Oh, well, yeah. more in that R&B. Right. Well, like at the beginnings, I thought, well, I... It was one of those things because like, it was like, it was like some like, kind of like rock music, but it definitely had...

When he was on DC Talk, he was the rap guy of DC Talk. Wow. Wow. So there would be some songs, not a ton, but some songs that have like little rap segments. That would be him. That would be Toby Mac. Yeah. I'll have to listen and go back and listen to some that DC talk stuff.

I hope that that's way back in the day. Okay. And I was in high school when they broke like when they were starting to break up. Oh, Brit, yeah, wow. And like they started each releasing their own individual solo tracks. Yeah. Yeah, that was back when I was like an end of my high school, maybe my first year of college.

That's how long ago that was, so, okay. It's not that long ago. Yeah, okay. It's almost two decades. Let's see it. Or has it been two decades? It's been over. That would have been 2001-ish.

Oh, so just over. Yeah. 22 years this. Wow. Yeah, wow is right. Well. So I'm thinking for those things, but I'm also thankful for I guess you can say the stereotypical things.

Yeah, like the family and friends. Sure, let's say family. Well, you're... Spiritual Family, I don't know. So, I was going to get into and clarify a little bit more. Yeah, that's what I said, yeah, let's say Family. physical blood-related family. Oh boy, that's a pain in the half. The Keester? Yeah, my family is way above...

statistical averages on certain things. Oh. Yeah, now I can say that right now. Yeah, when I say my family, I mean like my aunts, my cousins and all that. No, but I'm grateful for the people that, I know they always go, well, you could choose your friends and you can't choose your family, but I'm grateful for the people that I consider family.

You, Andy, Heather, you know, the main ones. Those are like the three main ones. Josh has kind of been busy with his own little family life. Yeah. So I still consider him a good friend, but I haven't seen him as much because he's off, you know. doing whatever. Hunting Bambi or... Yeah, go get them. Or doing whatever. And that's fine. We all go through different seasons of life like that.

Just like I'm sure when you settle down with and start having your kids, you know, there'll be a period of time where we won't see HR for a while. No. I'm not changing any of my schedule. Dude, you're gonna have to if you ever get married.

Nah, dude, I can make it happen. And that's okay. Now man, I can force it to happen. No, I can't. I say, and that's how you end up in divorce. No, I won't allow it. Just kidding. No, but, you know, schedules have to change something, I get that, that's fine. You know? And yeah, it sucks sometimes because I'm like, oh man, but whatever.

Life goes through and you know things will cycle through and things will happen again and you know schedule is always changing that's fine but I'm still thankful for those I consider my family in that regard Because you guys have kept me sane and stable through the years Even if you yourself sometimes drive me nuts You still I'm here to keep that balance, you still keep me sane, stable and grounded. And world crazy. Exactly. You always need that in life a little bit. So I am grateful for that I really am. A hundred percent serious. So I am. It seems basic in that regard of what I'm... Did you just do the white girl basic dance? No. Yes, you do. Oh, I'm... It seems basic and what I'm thankful for but it's I found as you get older it's okay that it's basic.

Yeah. There's a lot of... They don't need to be grateful for all these... Now, don't get me wrong, it's great to do that whole little thing of, you know, the stereotypical, like you have the little kid pray for what they're thankful for, and they're thankful for like every little thing under the side. Yeah, right. And that's great in that...

I'm not disparaging that at all. In fact, maybe at times we should be like that a little bit more. But at the same time, I'm not going to be like, well, I'm thankful for the PlayStation and for the Xbox and for the this, and for the that, and for the this. Because ultimately those things are not important. I'm thankful for the things that are important to me. And those are the things that allow me to continue to grow, continue to live, continue to mature spiritually.

Those are the things that... that I want to focus more on in life and less on other things. Now don't get me wrong, I'm still going to play video games and have relaxation time and that because well, distressing from the single life of living with a dog is, oh, so hard. But there are still stressors in, you know, especially when you got... Well, now I got my mom in six crazy aunts and uncles, no longer seven. Yeah, yeah. You know, that drive me nuts in their group chats and...

Oh, or I, yeah, they're all in the group chats and I'm in there and I sometimes have to go, now children behave. Knock it off, because they start sniping at each other. I'm like no no no I snipe you all behave. Oh you're calling the shots here heck yeah. I was like you want to do it. Yeah you behave. But I am thankful for them, but I've learned to kind of focus more until those areas are helping me grow. and keep me accountable on things because that's the only way certain parts of my life continue to function properly, let's say. Right, yeah. It seems like such a simple list when you look at it from, you know, the 10,000 foot view, but when you dive in deep on each of those things, there's a lot there.

Oh yeah. I mean, just between me and you buddy, there's a lot there in that relationship and that friendship there. True. Well, true. Yes. Yes. Yeah, uh-huh. A lot of conversations late at night, even in...

What was it, the... Downtown by Pepys that other night, other Wednesday, just sitting out there in the corner talking. Yeah, people coming by like... This dude's going on about. You don't want to know.

All my life problems. I should have been therapist. Yeah. You'd have had so much money for me. But in all seriousness, yeah, I am thankful for, like I said, especially like you Andy and Heather, like.

the core what I consider really my family. I consider you, well Heather, sister obviously, but you and Andy brothers. Oh, okay. Yeah, right. Yeah, what? I don't know. I don't know. What? I don't even know.

I thought you were just going to say brothers for all of us. I was like, wait, what? No, no. We are in 2023, so almost 2024. Good job on new years.

How much woke we're gonna get as time goes on. Wow. I'm just leaving this one alone right now. But smart. Yes, smart is the keyword there.

I try to be once in a while. Someone has to, I'm not going to do it all that often. Is there anything else you want to add for this? Not that I can think of. All right. Well, nothing else for me either other than have a happy Thanksgiving.

Enjoy that turkey or ham and the stuffing with the grapes or the raisins. Or the raisins. I just dried grapes. Crazins. Enjoy that if you have stuffing with raisins you know exactly what I mean how much better it is than normal Stuffing that you get Enjoy it Have fun with family, whether that's your blood family or family that you choose to make your family or that's kind of adopted you as your family. Like if you live out somewhere where no families around and you know people from the church or whatever say, hey, come and.

Come over my house. Come and join in. Yeah, come and join in. Have fun. Enjoy and kind of remember what this time is for, a time to be thankful. a time to count the blessings that we have big, small, or otherwise, and that it is a time to relax and enjoy with family. And not a time to become all consumeristic and worry about what's the big sale on Black Friday, even though everyone, you know. It seems to trample every year.

We always have a trampoline on Black Friday. Oh yeah. But take the time to enjoy this time because right after Thanksgiving we get right back into the hustle until Christmas time. And then we kind of back away for Christmas for a little bit and then hustle right back again right as the New Year's comes around right after the new year. So like Christmas and New Year's that's almost just like one big hustle. Unless you're like in my industry then you like you get done with New Year's and then like two weeks later you have Monday off for like the 19th of January somewhere around there. And then, yeah, banker holidays, they're wonderful, let me tell you.

I want one of those. Hey, then you got to get a job in the banking industry. I bet. I'll join Johnson Bank. They'll let me in.

I haven't in there. What? I could visa gone to Johnson Bank if I chose not to. But you can get me into Johnson Bank? If there's a job there that would fit your skill set? Well, probably not. I don't know. So yeah, I did have an in-it there, but yeah.

Anyways, we'll talk about that later. Have a good safe holiday where you decide to drink or not and if you do decide to drink responsibly Wisconsinably just king responsibly We're from Wisconsin. We gotta put that in. responsibly. Not Wisconsin. That's bad. Yeah, not good. Yeah, okay. Anyway, thanks for joining us and happy Thanksgiving.

Oh man, yeah, it's almost time for us to go on the road Johnson based on when this comes out. Oh yeah this is, dude, next week. Oh man. Yeah. Okay. This will be entertaining. Somehow, somehow. We'll figure out how to make Aaron do something embarrassing. What? What? No. I don't like that.

I don't like that one bit. You don't know what it is. No, I don't. But I don't like it. That's what makes it worse that I don't like it.

Maybe it's just get some ideas from rusty ship. What? Maybe they can provide me some ideas. What? Oh, anyways, thank you. We'll catch you all later. Bye. Mm-bye. I'm going to You're going to. And the
